Ogre out, Happiness in ! Setsuban is celebrated Feb. 3, the day before the lunar start of spring. Traditions have evolved and shifted, but luckily the street where we are staying celebrates with what I believe are monks, being pushed in beautiful lantern adorned cart showering children and onlookers with Fuku Mame ( happiness beans ) and candy. The beans are traditionally thrown in your house to ward off evil, try clicking here to learn more then even I cared to read. Whilst I was beaned with enough beans to ensure good fortune, my camera has so many issues, I could cry. Today made it clear, I must seek the right equipment.
