So finally the the Sakura or cherry blossems are at thier peak, and we were lucky enough to be invited to a Hanami, or cherry viewing party, Saturday in Yoyogi park. Yoyogi is sort of like NYC's Washington Square Park, there are drummers and dancers and all sorts of crazyness, which is always refreshing. One of my teachers came to the park on Friday night and secured us a great spot on a giant blue tarp. When we arrived at about 1:00 on Saturday the park was buzzing with energy, you could feel the excitement in the air. By about 3:00 it was one full swing giant party. You could barely make your way between the tarps, where people lounged about drinking, eating, singing, and occasionally, flower viewing.
