the trek homeOn New Years Eve Day, we headed over to the National Park for a proper snowshoe with M in tow, O & I sweating hard to keep up with Grammy Long Legs and Aunt A. It was so beautiful I wished we had gone sooner - still it was undeniably a bitterly cold day. When we got to our frozen destination, Taggart Lake (which is a quick bear filled hike in the summer) it was so windy we gathered in the trees for a half a sandwich before turning right round and heading back. Despite the chapped cheeks - Marlena seemed to love the steady pace and constant squeak of our shoes in the snow. And me, I'll take freezing winds over a bear, or even the possibility of bear, any day.
