To break up the journey on the way back we stayed over nite in the town of Inuyama, famous for cormorant fishing in the summer. Also home to the
Meiji Mura open air Museum where we made a pilgrimage to the original Frank Lloyd Wright Lobby of the Imperial Hotel, reconstructed along with some 67 other Meiji era buildings. Random, but cool. Though the impression given, at least in translation, was that the building was demolished as a result of a huge earthquake in 1926, just three years after its completion, it actually was not removed until 1976. It is surprisingly ornate with lots of little tiles within tiles, apparently he was in his Mayan phase at the time, I could be wrong but I am not sure just how much it would have appealed to the Japanese aesthetic. Oh did you know that Frank Lloyd Wright's mama was Welsh ? That is where Lloyd comes from.
