little commuter

We went to Kamakura on Sunday to do the hike from Kita Kamakura to the Big Buddha - finally figured out where we were going astray in the past. On our way we passed through the atmospheric Zeni(coin ) Arai (washing ) Benten shrine. Which I call the 'the money washing temple'. ( It is a shrine built around a spring in a grotto whose waters are said to increase your wealth if you wash coins/bills there) It was mobbed ! There was a queue of 70+ people lined up just to make an offering - before entering the grotto to wash bills. So fascinating. Despite these troubled times, when one is tempted to ask for all the help they can get, we skipped the queue and went on to the Daibutsu Big Buddha.
