Took a little mini break to our beloved favorite get away of 2001, Railay Beach. The stunning little penninsula has not changed all that much in 10 years which is kind of amazing. There are a few new hotels, but they are all low rise and low key. It is a bit dirtier in spots ... Or do I just notice the dirt more these days ? And it was all very quiet. Maybe a bit too quiet. As we were there during a full moon, the tides were very high, and the beach disappeared completely under crashing waves. This was pretty dramatic and exciting the first time round, but meant there was little place to wander. Or run and jump and splash. And then the bed bugs started to bite and the food poisoning set in. That was new, and alas a bit much for a 4 day get away. Still - with all those nuisances it is so very very beautiful, and really very comforting to know that it has retained that essence we loved so much.

Bed Bugs? Dirtier? It's kids. They add a new filter to your lens - or rather take one away. LOVE these photos, even though I'm not ashamed to say that I don't think I'll take my kids to Thailand until they are in double digits. That said, you did Penang, and that surprised me, too. But you always do, don't you? You pave the path for me to follow. Thanks, J! ;)
