Over the school holiday Ms teacher from last year invited the kids from last years class over to her house. At one point in the year the class got so small (about 8 children) that it merged with another class but the original group of kids were and still are very close. Those 8 probably represented about 5 different religions, 10 different nationalities and a whole spectrum of development - which I think to them basically meant more holidays/more cake.   For the playdate, their teacher the fabulous Ms R prepared a feast of Indian food (which the moms ate most of - so delicious) while the kids danced to Bollywood videos, shared stories about their new schools, and decorated Diyas (clay pots for lighting candles at Diwali). While some teachers over the years have understandably appeared quite stressed, Ms R is the happiest teacher we have ever had. Maybe it is because she had such a small class, but whatever the reason it was obvious on this occasion that she truly loves the kids. I can not overstate what an amazing gift that is. It was such a special occasion, that I could have felt a bit sad.  Because it really is fleeting. The kids have all moved on to different, larger schools, with different priorities and much faster paces. But that was an afternoon to remember. Lucky M, lucky me.
