in praise of lakes

after the picnic

We went up to Nikko (again) to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and well I am running out of things to say about Nikko. On one of the deserted beaches dotted around the far end of the lake, we had a grand picnic with huge chunks of Parmesan cheese, olives, & hummus which we brought with us from Tokyo. I even made brownies to replicate year old wedding cake, but contrary to tradition they actually came out lovely and moist.
