Nikko's Shinkyo Bridge

It was a long weekend here and we managed to get out of town, and up to the mountain town of Nikko, where we escaped the heat but not the rain. This was our second visit to Nikko, the first of which was also distinguished by constant rain, but this time we could actually see the mountains around us, and it turns out to be a beautiful and rugged place. The steep hills rising from the valley are covered in forest so thick it is more like jungle, and the peaks are often shrouded with mist much of which rises from the many magnificent waterfalls. While not cheap, its so easy to get to Nikko from Tokyo, we cant quite figure out why its not mobbed, I suppose one more rained out weekend and we might get it.
